My relationship with Maddy and Tyner started in the middle of last Summer’s heatwave. It was too hot to shoot outdoors and I suggested we shoot their engagement session in San Diego (their soon-to-be-new-home).

San Diego in August was mild, breezy and the light was stunning. Having a beach and a beautiful couple were just a plus;-) Tyner and I even got some skydiving in (but don’t tell my wife).

After such a fantastic engagement session, I was left hoping that their wedding day would be favored by the same nature gods which left such a fine mark on their California shoot.

I wasn’t disappointed.

Their wedding was amazing. Mild weather and beautiful natural light (which made its way into Boston Avenue during the ceremony) were just the beginning. Talmadge Powell Creative made the smallest details noteworthy and delivered the wedding we all expected. The Mayo Hotel ballroom was bathed in pink, red and purple hues and music provided by The Pictures kept the party on its feet the entire night.

It seems trite to repeat- I LOVE what I do! Here are a few highlights.

I’ve photographed weddings that have been planned over the course of two years and some over the course of two weeks. Caitlin and Derrick’s wedding at the Canebrake fell somewhere in between.

From the first moment i met Caitlin there was no doubt that she was a bride who knew what she wanted her wedding to be. Not only that, but she knew that she wanted her wedding to be her own. To be a personal vision and one that wasn’t found in bridal magazines or binders.

From her intimate ceremony  to the party after with karaoke (a new one to me at a wedding) the wedding was totally Caitlin and Derrick.

Ask anyone from Oklahoma about the weather and you’ll quickly be told that it’s highly unpredictable. It can go from hot to cold to hot again in a matter of hours and its seems just as likely to snow in May as it does in December sometimes.

Ashley Farthing (of Farthing Events) was fantastic in coordinating everything down to the smallest detail. The French Bouquet provided lovely red and white flowers for the centerpieces.

Meghan and Greg were so easy to work with. They were laid back, easy going (despite the weather forecast) and above all, they knew exactly what they wanted. The couple knew they didn’t want a band or a wedding DJ. Instead, the couple knew they wanted someone who would really get their guests dancing. They wanted a club DJ. DJ Moody filled that role and then some, keeping the dance floor packed throughout the night.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with many amazing and talented wedding planners over the years in Oklahoma and beyond. Recently, as i’ve started photographing more weddings in Oklahoma City and I’ve had the pleasure of working with Judy Lehmbeck, one of the most talented and classy wedding planners i’ve met.

From the tiniest of details to redecorating an entire venue, Judy is a 5-foot force of nature when it comes to making her brides happy. Her impeccable taste and poise continues to impress me each time we work together. I’ve watched Judy gracefully guide a lost bride from their first meeting to the altar, all while showing the bride how to successfully navigate the myriad of options available to today.

As a professional photographer, I love getting to work with Judy because i know the details will be addressed and handled professionally. She truly makes my job easier. Here is a small sample of her work.

Holiday Weddings are always beautiful, but the Oklahoma weather isn’t always accommodating. Two years ago I had to have one of my assistants pick me up in a 4×4 just to get to a december wedding after snow made it impossible for my mini to move. The weather three weeks ago for Marli and Chas’ wedding was the total opposite. It was gorgeous and the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club made the perfect venue for their special day.

The beautiful bride and groom took full advantage of the amazing weather and opted to see each other before the wedding. This made for a beautiful reveal and some great outdoor photos that often aren’t otherwise possible with such an early sunset in December.

Judy Lehmbeck and New Leaf Florist performed an amazing transformation at the Country Club, removing all of the club’s holiday decorations and replacing them with Marli’s vision for her reception in a matter of hours. Souled Out had everyone dancing all night while the couple capped their reception with Taquitos from Whataburger!

As the weather turns colder, i’m reminded of this awesome engagement session I photographed in August in San Diego. This destination engagement session was so much fun. Maddie and Tyner had just moved to San Diego and decided they wanted their engagement photos done in their new hometown.

These shoots are always fun for me. Not only do I get to spend time with fantastic people, but I get to do it in a beautiful spot. We spread the shoots out over a few days, which ensured a relaxed time for all involved. After all the fun, Tyner and I got to cross something off our bucket lists and went skydiving. Ace Cuervo Photography is full service!

Congratulations to Lisa and Adam! It’s been one year since your amazing wedding. The Church of Saint Mary was a beautiful ceremony and Meadowbrook Country Club threw a great party.

Congratulations to Danielle and Jordan. Your wedding day still stands out for me because i’ve always loved a bride who knows how to plan a wedding. The reality is, though, most brides don’t have any personal experience planning a wedding. I also have found that a lot of brides underestimate how much time it takes to really pull off a large wedding. The more weddings i’ve shot, the more i’ve come to see the need for more skilled wedding planners in this business.

Ashley Farthing (of Farthing Events) really brought this wedding together. From the little details to pulling it all off, Ashley made my day much easier because a relaxed bride is great to photograph. Of course, having a beautiful setting like the Silo helped a lot, too
